(The cast of Here to Recruit You singing "Living For Today")
Lili's song "Living For Today" is being featured in a play written and directed by Michael Boyd. HERE TO RECRUIT YOU is a new play with music highlighting the little-known theatrical career of gay political icon HARVEY MILK. Prior to becoming California”Ēs first openly-gay elected official, HARVEY MILK lived and loved among a group of downtown bohemian artists on the verge of re-defining the Broadway musical. It was a time (the 1960s) and place (New York City) that informed his politics and inspired his activism. Beginning in 1964, HERE TO RECRUIT YOU chronicles Milk's quest to find love, success, and a purpose in life as he transitions from Wall Street businessman to Broadway producer and, finally, to a celebrated politician whose life was cut short by an assassin's bullet. The premeire opens at Wild Project, 195 East 3rd Street, NYC Saturday, July 20th @ 8:00pm and Sunday, July 21st @ 4:00pm.

Lili's latest album In Spirit was just picked for WRTI's Jazz Album of the week! Matt Silver gives a nice synopsis. "Raised in Spanish Harlem, singer/songwriter and guitarist Lili Anel has always remained connected to, but never bound by, musical roots in Latin jazz. That Anel's output over the past two-plus decades has been, progressively, more and more musically diverse is a testament to this." Click HERE to check out the full article.
