Lili Anel (pronounced Ahn-Yell) considers music a calling. The guitarist, singer-songwriter grew up in New York City where she discovered her passion for music and began her journey. As a child Anel remembers singing along to her mother's Cuban, jazz and pop standard albums. Her mother supported Lili's desire to join the church choir and her grandfather's recognition of how much joy singing brought to her served to set her feet firmly on the path of a career in music.
Palmetto Records released her first CD "Laughed Last" (1994), following with "Hi-Octane Coffee" (2001), "Laughed Last Reissue" with 3 Bonus Tracks recorded live (2006), "Dream Again" (2007) and "Every Second In Between" (2009). In 2007, JazzTimes Magazine said of Lili "...her songs are consistently excellent..." and proclaimed of her 2009 release "...a cd to blow your mind at first listen...". Every Second In Between (produced by Glenn Barratt) also made the All About Jazz 2009 Year End Writers Choice for the "10 Best New Jazz Releases" list, along with winning 3 New York Music Awards 2010: Best Singer-Songwriter, Best Jazz Album and Best Female Jazz Vocalist. On her 2013 release I Can See Bliss From Here, Lili teamed up with Dale Melton (The Melton Brothers) a friend and fellow musician who'd played in her rhythm section for over a year. The collaboration as co-producers has proven fruitful, delivering a profoundly honest and diverse recording. The songwriting on this, her 6th CD, is more musically diverse than any of her previous. Says Lili "these are the songs I want to put out to the world at this time. They reflect where I am right now". Musically drawing from Latin, Jazz, Folk, Blues and Pop, as much a hybrid as Anel herself, a New York-born Cuban-African American. The album was well received by critics and fans alike. "Another Place, Another Time" was released in 2017. "Another Place, Another Time" is an EP of 6 songs, 2 penned by Anel, 2 co-written with her twin sister, Barbara and 2 covers. Another Place, Another Time's songs were recorded live with minimal overdubs. "They lent themselves to being more open and having space" says Anel. Lili Anel once again pushes the boundaries vocally and as a songwriter continuing to electrify her audience as well as attract new fans.

LILI ON VUHAUS VIDEOS!
Dec 6, 2018
Big News! WRTI is excited to join VuHaus (pronounced VIEW House), public media's music discovery video platform-a growing network of public radio music stations and public TV stations that share a common mission to support emerging, established, and local artists.
Back in April Lili and the band with Larry McKenna were professionally filmed at WRTI studios. There are 3 videos that were posted to the VuHaus media site. The videos are stunning! The video and sound are both HD. "Our mission," explains WRTI General Manager Bill Johnson, "is to champion music as a vital cultural resource-which means embracing platforms and technology that help showcase and extend the reach of great music. The VuHaus platform does exactly that, and provides an excellent opportunity to increase exposure of the many talented musicians in the Philadelphia region, where we're located. Plus, these performances exemplify WRTI's role as a source for music discovery and curation. We're excited to launch this new era of content and service for our listeners, and to share the stories and sounds of our music community with the rest of the country." WRTI joins 19 of the most influential public media stations across America that showcase their music video content on VuHaus.com. WRTI's J. Michael Harrison is executive producer of the series- the first on VuHaus dedicated to jazz. Lili is excited beyond words to be part of this media platform! Last night Lili & the Band were part of a triple bill with the Deb Callahan Band and Curtis Cooper. Another incredible sold out show this past weekend with standing room only! This was the first time Lili and the Band performed at the Rittenhouse Soundworks in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and it turned out to be a very amazing night. The crowd was very energetic and receptive. The space with it's beautiful high wooden ceiling, sky lights and state of the art sound system gave the audience the best listening experience possible. Lili, Dale, Jeff and Jonathan had a blast performing and could not have asked for a better room to give the fans their all.
ELECTRIC SOLD OUT SHOW!
March 17, 2018
Last night Lili & the Band: Dale Melton, Jeff Blount and Jonathan Whitney performed an exciting, electric sold out SRO show at Perkins Center For The Arts in Moorestown, NJ. After 25 years the very elite DeCafe Concert Series came to an end. Lili was honered to be the last artist to perform at one of the most sought after intimate performance venues. Coffee, food and an excellent performance space provided an upclose and personal night where fans were able to meet Lili and the Band in between sets and after the show. Most artists are rarely asked to return as the series only provided 8 shows a year. This however was Lili's third time and without a doubt the best!
